The weather decided it was going to play it’s part also, and the skies opened as we restarted for the second galf, we haven’t seen conditions like this in months! Both sides traded scores, Oxford getting some more frees and a lovely point by Liam Reale to put the Oxford side 7 points to 4 up. Points from Adam Ferry and Sean Quinn put the Oxford side ahead by 10 points to 4 with 10 minutes left. St. Dympnas showed great fighting spirit and after a good move slotted the ball past the Oxford goalkeeper. Stephen Lavery and Brendan O’ Leary were now getting into the game for the Luton side and pushing their team on. Two more points were scored by the men from Luton to bring it to a two point game. With a minute remaining St. Dympnas got a two on two with the Éire Óg goalkeeper however some great defending from the Oxford captain Noel Burke put the Luton forward off and the ball went wide. The referee called it a day after that and Éire Óg Oxford claimed our third ever league title.
